According to a 1917 "Independent" newspaper article, "Rev. Samuel Ward, rector of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, will assist at the laying of the cornerstone of the Shiloh Baptist Church at the corner of West Oak and Muskingum (3rd) Streets Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock."
