Connie Ledwell (1937-2004)

Constance Harriet Welcher Ledwell (1937-2004) was born to Earl and Jean Welcher. At Washington High School she participated in choir, girls leaders, and girls' athletic association. After graduation in 1955 she moved to Cleveland to work with the Internal Revenue Service.


In 1978 she accepted the position as Director of the Massillon Youth Center. Connie was a devoted and active member of the Bethel AME and St. James AME Zion Church. She was married to Ernest Ledwell 1958-1984, and raised sons Galen, Dana, and David.


Connie has been recognized by many organizations: Western Stark YMCA Academy of Women, Canton Negro Old Timers Association, Stark County School committee on Drugs and Alcohol Assistance, and was a recipient of the Massillon Urban League's Minnie Traylor award.
