Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 15, 1908, and this year celebrated 115 years of service. It is the nation's first and oldest fraternal organization for college educated Black women. We were thrilled to meet with and interview several northeast Ohio Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorors at the Massillon Museum in 2022, including Beverly Lewis, Housing Director for Massillon City, and the elegant Edna "Dixie" Smith, who has achieved Pearl status for more than 65 years of membership. The Stark County Chapter of AKA is called "Alpha Beta Beta Omega Chapter" of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated which was chartered on December 5, 2021.
