"Families are left homeless by Flood Control Project"

December 31, 1949

Sadly the Smoky Hollow and Bottoms areas of Massillon suffered the worst flooding each spring. During the Flood Control Project 1939-1950, many of these houses were demolished for a Tuscarawas levee and viaduct bridges to be built at Lincoln Way, Tremont Ave, Cherry Rd, and Oberlin Rd.
